The Lassen and Modoc National Forests are developing a science synthesis in preparation to revise their forest plans sometime in the future. The Northeastern California Plateaus Bioregion Science Synthesis will focus on areas of both forests not already addressed by the Northwest Forest Plan Area Science Synthesis or the Sierra Nevada Science Synthesis. The combined results of these three science-based documents will guide how the Lassen and Modoc revise their individual forest plans in the future. Scientists from the Forest Service’s Western Center for Native Plant Conservation and Restoration Science will develop the Northeastern California Plateaus Bioregion Science Synthesis. This map provides a base-line overview of the lands to be addressed in the science synthesis.

In December 2016 we invited the public to help share the science synthesis. We’re currently drafting the science synthesis now. Check out our monthly updates to learn more.

What happens next?

The scientists have reviewed and considered the feedback they received on the proposed science questions and topics. Using this feedback the team is finalizing the guiding topics and questions and developing a draft science synthesis. The draft science synthesis will be released for public and peer review before being published as a final general technical report.
