Grant Opportunity: Cohesive Fire Strategy

The shared commitment of reducing the risk of catastrophic wildfires doesn’t stop at a jurisdictional boundary. Through the Cohesive Fire Strategy grant program, the Forest Service supports states, Sovereign Tribal nations and partners in their efforts of developing resilient landscapes, encouraging fire-adapted communities and improving wildfire response on non-federal land.

Three types of grants are available:

  1. Cross‐Boundary Wildfire Hazard Mitigation on Non‐Federal Lands (Cross-Boundary Mitigation)
  2. Wildfire Risk Reduction (WRR)
  3. Wildfire Preparedness (WP)
  • Eligibility: Eligible applicants vary by grant category, but include state forestry agencies, Sovereign Tribal nations, non-profit organizations, forest fire compacts, and academic institutions.
  • Application Open Period: Now through January 14 (with additional draft deadlines on December 10)
  • Apply: Forest Service Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy on the Grants.gov website
  • Webinars: Two webinars will be held to help prospective applicants. Use the the links below to join via Microsoft Teams.
