Wilderness Review Process
There are four stages to the wilderness review process during the forest plan revision: Inventory, Evaluation, Analysis, and Recommendation. The wilderness inventory and evaluation are conducted as a separate process prior to the Plan Revision phase. Results from the evaluation are analyzed during the Plan Revision phase. Based on the analysis, the Deciding Official will make a determination in the Record of Decision as to whether or not to recommend any areas for wilderness designation. Only Congress can designate wilderness.
