USDA Forest Service is Hiring Student Interns and Recent Graduates

Medford—September 6, 2018— Start your career with the Forest Service and leave your legacy on nature for future generations! The Forest Service is hiring student interns and recent graduates through the Pathways program. These paid career opportunities lead to permanent jobs upon successful completion of the program. Position are available across the country. Local positions currently available on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest include three forester positions in Prospect, one forester in Gold Beach, one NEPA planner position in Medford, and a forestry technician position in Prospect.

2018 Society of American Foresters National Convention
All applications must be submitted on USAJOBS.gov. If you are attending 2018 Society of American Foresters National Convention in Portland, OR, a computer lab will be available to support students and recent graduates with the application process. Forest Service employees will be available to answer questions. Convention registration is not required to gain access to the computer lab. You do not need to attend the convention to apply for these jobs.

The Forest Service is searching for eager individuals who will uphold the Forest Service mission to care for the land and serve the people. The Pathways Internship program offers paid career development opportunities to students enrolled in qualifying educational programs or institutions. The Pathways Recent Graduate program is tailored toward those who have received a qualifying degree or certificate from an institution of higher education within the previous two years. Veterans whose military service obligations prevent them from applying within this period have up to six years to apply. Interns and recent graduates receive on-the-job training and mentorship. Upon successful completion of the program, student interns and recent graduates may be converted to a permanent position.

Pathways Student Intern Qualification Information

  • Must be a US Citizen or be able to obtain citizenship prior to graduation

  • Pathways Interns must currently attend an institution of higher education pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate

  • Must be in good academic standing

Recent Graduates Qualification Information

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Recent graduates who have completed, within the previous two years a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution. Veterans whose military service obligations prevent them from applying within this period have up to six years to apply.
