House Creek Boat Ramp Opening

Dolores, CO., May 20, 2020 - The San Juan National Forest’s Dolores Ranger District will open the House Creek boat ramp on Friday, May 22nd for reservoir-based recreation. Operating hours are 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday through Monday until the end of September. Due to construction, House Creek Campground remains closed with an anticipated opening of June 1st.

Vessels that do not have current boat registration will not be allowed to launch on to the reservoir. Boaters can find boat registration information at Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s boating registration website. Aquatic Nuisance Species inspectors will be on-site to conduct pre-launch inspections of trailered and motorized boats launching on to the reservoir.

Boaters must comply with Colorado Parks and Wildlife's Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) regulations to stop the spread of zebra or quagga mussels and other invasive species. Boaters are also required to follow Colorado Park and Wildlife’s ANS inspection program’s COVID-19 precautionary measures (https://cpw.state.co.us/thingstodo/Pages/BoatInspection.aspx) during inspections, launching and boating.

Boaters who need a full inspection and decontamination are urged to visit the lake during the weekday when visitation is lower than the weekend. Boaters who have tags from last year’s inspections on McPhee will be able to enter the lake quicker than boaters who need inspections.
