Sheep Mountain Wilderness

The United States Congress designated the Sheep Mountain Wilderness in 1984 and it now has a total of 42,160 acres. Most of the Wilderness lies within the boundaries of the Angeles National Forest and their contact information is at the bottom of this page.  The San Bernardino portion contains 2,401 acres near the rugged headwaters of Paiute Canyon.

The Angeles National Forest portion of the wilderness has traditionally received heavy water-related recreational use. A Wilderness Permit is required for entry into the Sheep Mountain Wilderness from their East Fork Trailhead.
