ORDER NO. 12-18-06
SAN BERNARDINO NATIONAL FOREST

VALLEY FIRE CLOSURE

Pursuant to 16 USC 551 and 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety and resource protection, the following acts are prohibited within the Front Country Ranger District of the San Bernardino National Forest. This Order is effective from August 15, 2018 through December 31, 2018.

1.    Going into or being upon National Forest System lands within the Valley Fire Closure Area. The Valley Fire Closure Area begins at the San Gorgonio Wilderness (SOW) boundary in the southeast comer of Section 22, Township 1 North, Range 1 East (San Bernardino Base and Meridian), then continues southeast and then southwest along a line 10 feet to the west and north side of the centerline of the South Fork Trail (Forest Trail No. 1E04.2) to the junction of the South Fork Trail and the Falls Creek Trail (Forest Trail No. 1E04.3) in the northeast comer of Section 3, Township 1 South, Range 1 East, then continues southwest and then northwest along a line 10 feet to the northwest and north side of the centerline of the Falls Creek Trail to the junction of the Falls Creek Trail and the SOW boundary in the northeast comer of Section 7, Township 1 South, Range 1 East, and then continues along the SOW boundary west and north, then east back to the starting point, as shown on the attached map. 36 CFR 261.52(e).

2.    Being on any National Forest System trail within the Valley Fire Closure Area, as shown on the attached map. 36 CFR 261.55(a).

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

1.    Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

2.    Persons with a permit from the Forest Service specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.

A violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. 16 USC 551 and 18 USC 3559, 3571, and 3581.
