Forest Order No. 05-12-52-19-10 
Gray's Peak Area Closure

Pursuant to 16 USC 551 and 36 CRF 261.50(a) and (b), and to protect natural resources, the following acts are prohibited within the Mountaintop Ranger District of the San Bernardino National Forest. This Order is effective from December 1, 2019, through July 31, 2020.

1.    Going into or being upon any National Forest System lands within the Gray's Peak Closure Area. The boundary of the Gray's Peak Closure Area begins in the NW1/4NW1/4 of Section 14, T. 2N., R. 1W. SBM, at the intersection of Forest Road No. 2N70 and Forest Trail No. 1W06, then continues northwesterly along the north edge of Forest Road No. 2N70 for approximately 63 feet to the intersection of Forest Road No. 2N70 and the bottom of the stream drainage, then continues northeasterly along the bottom of the stream drainage to the intersection with the forest boundary of the San Bernardino National Forest on the north line of SW1/4SE1/4 of Section 11, T. 2N., R. 1W. SBM, then continues east to the NE comer of the SW1/4SE1/4 of Section 11, T. 2N., R. lW. SBM, then continues south to the SE corner of the SW1/4SE1/4 of Section 11, T. 2N., R. lW. SBM, then continues east along the northern edge of Section 14, T. 2N., R. 1W. SBM to the shoreline of Big Bear Lake, then continues south along the shoreline of Big Bear Lake to its intersection with the east line of the SE1/4NE1/4 of Section 14, T. 2N.,
R. 1W. SBM, then continues along the shoreline of Big Bear Lake to its intersection with the east line of the SE1/4NE1/4 of Section 14, T. 2N., R. 1W. SBM, then continues south along the east line of section 14, T. 2N., R. lW. SBM to the northern edge of State Highway 38 (North Shore Drive), then continues southeasterly and westerly along the northern edge of State Highway 38 to its intersection with the boundary of the San Bernardino National Forest on the south line of the SW1/4NE1/4 of Section 14, T. 2N., R. 1W. SBM, then continues west to the center of Section 14, T. 2N., R. 1W. SBM, then continues on a bearing 135 degrees northwest to its intersection with Forest Road No. 2N70, then continues along the northern and western edge of Forest Road No. 2N70 back to the beginning, as shown on the attached map. 36 CFR 261.53(a).
2.    Being on any National Forest System road within the Gray's Peak Closure Area, as shown on the attached map. 36 CFR 261.54(e).
3.    Being on any National Forest System trail within the Gray's Peak Closure Area, as shown on the attached map. 36 CFR 261.55(a).

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

1.    Persons with a permit from the Forest Service specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act.
2.    Residents of the Gray's Peak Closure Area, to the extent necessary to gain access to their residences.
3.    Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire-fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A. A violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. 16 USC 551 and
18 USC 3559, 3571, and 3581.
