Cucamonga Canyon Closure

Pursuant to 16 USC 551 and 36 CFR 261.50(a), and to provide for public safety, the following act is prohibited on the San Bernardino National Forest.  This Order is effective from April 24, 2018, through April 23, 2019.

Going into or being upon National Forest System lands within the Cucamonga Canyon Closure Area.  The Cucamonga Canyon Closure Area boundary begins at the gate located at the intersection of the Forest boundary and Big Tree Cucamonga Road (Forest Road No. 1N34), then continues west along the Forest boundary to its intersection with West Fork Cucamonga Road (Forest Road No. 1N35), then continues east along the southern edge of West Fork Cucamonga Road to its intersection with the Forest boundary, then continues south along the Forest boundary to its intersection with Big Tree Cucamonga Road, then continues southwest along the western edge of Big Tree Cucamonga Road for approximately 1/4 mile back to the starting point, as shown on the attached map.

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

1. Persons with a permit from the Forest Service specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.

2. Any Federal, State or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

This prohibition is in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR 261, Subpart A.

A violation of this prohibition is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both.  16 USC 551 and 18 USC 3559, 3571 and 3581.
