Salmon Cobalt Ranger District
Salmon Cobalt Ranger District
Come and enjoy the National Forest lands managed by the Salmon Cobalt Ranger District in conjunction with the North Fork and Leadore Ranger Districts – there’s plenty of room for everyone! Each year thousands of visitors come to enjoy the rugged terrain that the mountains west of Salmon have to offer. There are camping and picnicking areas, as well as trails for Mountain Bikes, OHV’s, hiking, and horses. Many come to enjoy the solitude and challenge that packing into the Big Horn Crags or the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness has to offer.
Other uses administered through the Salmon-Cobalt Ranger District include minerals, watershed, fish and wildlife biology, rangeland, and weeds. Maps and permits can be purchased at the Public Lands Center located on 93S in Salmon; appointments with any of our specialists can be made by contacting them through the number listed below.
