Salmon-Challis National Forest Supervisor Chuck Mark issued the following statement concerning the recent helicopter landings in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Area.  "This morning I was informed by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game that during their operations collaring elk in the Middle Fork Salmon River area that they also captured and placed tracking collars on four wolves.  Collaring wolves was not part of the authorization by the Forest Service. We are fact finding to learn what happened, and how this happened.  As the authorizing official, I take this matter very seriously."
