Salmon, ID – The Salmon-Challis National Forest will begin preparatory work for the Boundary Creek Road as early as this Wednesday, June 13th.  Work will continue through the weekend with extended hours.  Application of the Magnesium-Chloride is expected to begin on Monday, June 18th and be completed by Wednesday, June 20th, weather permitting.

For the Salmon River Road, preparatory work will begin on June 21st, with work continuing throughout the weekend with extended hours of work.  Application of the Magnesium-Chloride is expected to begin on Tuesday, June 26th and be completed by Friday, June 29th, weather permitting.

Short delays are possible.  Road users should expect maintenance activities to be more intense with additional water trucks, heavy truck traffic, and equipment working the roads during the project.  Work hours will likely be extended and maintenance equipment may be encountered between dawn and dusk during the project.

Roads may be very wet and slippery during the application process so please use caution as you travel through the project area.  Slow speeds will enhance safety and reduce the amount of mud and salt that needs to be washed off of the vehicles that travel through the project area.

These investments in priority road maintenance activities would not be possible without utilizing collected fees from the public, outfitters, and Forest users.

The schedule is tentative and weather dependent.  For more detailed information as the dates approach please call the Public Lands Center in Salmon at 208-756-5100.
