Recreation Fee Guidelines for the Main Salmon

Recreation Fee Guidelines

All permit holders are required to pay a portion of their recreation fees at the time the reservation is made in order to confirm launch date.

All persons floating the Wild Section of the Main Salmon River must pay a Recreation Fee in the amount of $4.00 per person per day (or any part of a day) or be a valid Middle Fork/Main Salmon Rivers Season Pass holder.

A fee reduction of 50% is available to Senior or Access Pass holders (formerly Golden Age or Golden Access Passports). Season pass holders and persons using a Senior or Access Pass for a fee discount must present their pass, along with their photo ID, to the River personnel issuing the permit.

Permit holders are responsible for payment of fees for their entire group.  Final recreation fee payments are to be made prior to arrival at launch site through www.recreation.gov using a credit or debit card.  Corn Creek River personnel are not able to accept checks or cash for payment of recreation fees.

The permit holder must acknowledge any pass holders (Season, Senior or Access) on www.recreation.gov at the time of payment.

Refund Policy:

Payments (and group size) can be adjusted until the morning of the launch date. Refunds will be credited back to the credit card within a few days. “No-shows” will not receive a refund on prepaid fees.

Cancellation Policy:

Reservations are not transferable.  Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis due to medical or special circumstances -   Contact the North Fork Range District at 208-865-2700 if you have questions about your situation.

If you cannot make the trip, you must cancel your reservation.   Cancellations should be made at www.recreation.gov as soon as possible, but are required to be submitted no later than 21 days prior to your launch date to avoid the cancellation penalty.   If your cancellation is within 21 days of your launch date, you will be restricted from participating in the control season lottery for the Main Salmon for 3 years.  All cancelled reservations are entitled to have their recreation fees refunded onto your credit card by Recreation.gov; the application fee ($10) is non-refundable.

No Show Policy:

If you cannot make the trip, you must cancel your reservation.   Failure to show for your scheduled launch date will result in a “No-Show” penalty.  This penalty includes no refund of recreation fees applied to reservation, no refund of application fee ($10), and you will be restricted from participating in the control season lottery for the Main Salmon for 3 years.

Season Passes:

Season Passes are available for purchase from the Middle Fork and North Fork offices for $40.00. This pass entitles the holder only (not other members of their party) to float the Middle Fork and/or Main Salmon Rivers without further payment of Recreation Fees for one year from the date of purchase. Passes purchased after total payment is made for a trip cannot be utilized for that particular trip. Season pass holders must present their pass, along with their photo ID, to the launch site personnel issuing the permit.

Senior and Access Passes:

Senior and Access Passes (formerly Golden Age and Golden Access passports) entitle the holder to purchase a Season Pass at a 50% discount. Both the Senior and Access passes must be obtained in person, and are available at most Forest Service offices. Senior Passes are available only to citizens or permanent residents of the United States who are 62 years old or older. You must show proof of age, plus there is a one-time $80 processing fee for the lifetime senior pass or $20 for an annual senior pass (valid for one year). The Access Pass is available only to citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. who have been medically determined to be blind or permanently disabled. You may obtain this passport by presenting written proof of medically determined permanent disability or eligibility for receiving benefits under federal law.

Purchases of maps can be made ahead of time through the Middle Fork or North Fork Ranger District .

Campground fees are accepted in the fee tube at the campground.

The America the Beautiful Interagency Annual Pass is not accepted on the Middle Fork or the Wild Main Salmon Rivers.
