The Francis Marion National Forest welcomes Jeremiah Zamora as the new Francis Marion District Ranger. Zamora was born in central New Mexico. His parents worked as a telephone repairman and a banker, but his grandfather’s legacy as a Forest Supervisor left an indelible impression on Zamora that inspired his career path.

The Rocky Mountain Region and the Southwestern Region have served as a backdrop for Zamora’s career with the USDA’s Forest Service. Zamora began his career with the Forest Service as a student in a program called the Student Career Experience Program, before becoming a forester on the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest. Zamora earned his bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Forest Management both from New Mexico Highlands University in 2000 and 2010, respectively.

He most recently served as the District Ranger on the Parks Ranger District of the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest in Colorado. Prior to his current position, Jeremiah served as a Timber Management Assistant on the same forest, an acting District Ranger on the Pike San Isabel National Forest in Colorado, and a Timber Management Assistant on the Gila National Forest in New Mexico.
