Christmas Tree Permits
ABOUT PERMITS:
- Shoshone National Forest Christ tree permits can be obtained online at www.recreation.gov or at district offices in Cody and Dubois.
- Permits are $8.00 for one tree up to 20ft; additional permits will be required for additional trees or for trees over 20ft tall
- All sales are final and non-refundable
CHRISTMAS TREE PERMIT SALE DATES:
- Over-the-counter and online Christmas tree permits will be available for sales starting November 14th and will end December 31st
- Please call your local ranger district for current permit availability
- District offices are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. These offices are closed for all observed Federal holidays
- Due to staffing issues permits are not available at the Washakie District Office in Lander
- Permits expire at midnight December 31, 2024

FOURTH GRADERS! You can get a free Christmas tree as part of the Every Kid Outdoors program. Go to the website https://everykidoutdoors.gov complete the voucher and bring the voucher or the durable pass to a Forest Service office or use it at Recreation.gov (not a vendor) to receive one holiday tree permit free-of-charge! *There is a transaction fee of $2.50 if the Every Kid Outdoors tree pass is obtained at the recreation.gov website.
