Annual Report FY 2008

Highlights of Program Year10/1/07 to 9/30/08

Another fiscal year has drawn to a close and along with it came my one-year anniversary with the Siuslaw National Forest. During the past year I’ve come to learn about and appreciate the work Forest employees do to make the Siuslaw Forest and Region Six so successful.

Restoration, Recreation and Partnerships are what make this Forest tick. It’s our niche, what we do best with the natural resources we’ve been given in this Coastal forest.

It doesn’t matter if we are assisting an off-highway vehicle rider, providing fish-friendly culverts that assist in the natural path of migration or working with a sister natural resource agency. We are proud of the work we do.

Highlights from Fiscal Year 2008 include:

  • Celebrating our 100 year anniversary as a Forest

  • Completing a recreation site facility analysis that will help us identify priority recreation sites.

  • Collaboration with NOAA Fisheries during the relisting of Coho salmon as threatened and endangered species.

I encourage you to visit the Siuslaw National Forest to see for yourself the work we are accomplishing on your public lands. You can visit us at www.fs.fed.us/r6/siuslaw or follow us at Twitter.com/siuslawNF.
