Below you will find some of the more popular trails in the Hebo and Central Coast Ranger Districts, including Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area and Cape Perpetua. To view a full list of trails visit the hiking page. Trails are generally open year round unless there is a washout or the trail is blocked by fallen trees. We typically update this report bi-weekly.  The status listed below is the last known condition. Brush is growing fast on all system trails at this time of year. Report any specifically bad areas to District Trail Coordinator

Marys Peak Area:

Woods Creek Trailhead open for Northridge trail. Bikes are currently NOT allowed on North Ridge, East Ridge and Tie Trails between  October 16, 2019 through May 15 2020. 

Expect storm debris and possible snow on trails during winter months. Roads & Trails not maintained for snow during winter months.

Drift Creek Wilderness Area:
Horse Creek North (area is unavailable), Horse Creek South, Harris Ranch

All trails open. Expect storm debris on trails during winter months. PACK Your Trash OUT! No Bikes, ATV's or stock allowed on Wilderness trails. Horse Creek North & South Trails have brushy conditions on lower end.

Cape Perpetua:
Captain Cook, Cape Cove, Whispering Spruce, Oregon Coast, Cooks Ridge, Restless Waters, Giant Spruce, St. Perpetua, Discovery Loop, Gwynn Creek, Cummins Creek, Amanda's

Giant Spruce Trail is open, but there is a seasonal closure on a slide-prone portion of the trail. Follow signs to detour through campground to access Giant Spruce Tree.

CAUTION: Restless Waters trail near Devil's Churn has cracked, broken & lifted asphalt trail surface. Watch your step when hiking this trail. Repaving scheduled for Spring 2020.

All other trails are open for use. 

Report any trail issues to Cape Perpetua Visitor Center.

Kentucky Falls:
Kentucky Falls, North Fork Smith

Kentucky Falls Trailhead is open. Caution: Remote trail with some steep grades. Bring Map, extra water & food when hiking this trail. Moderate to Difficult trail with elevation gain and loss.

North Fork Smith Trail: Landslide repairs have been completed on trail below Kentucky Falls. 

Trail is open and logged out. Expect storm debris on trail during winter months.

Chief Tsiltcoos, Lagoon Loop, Siltcoos Lake,Waxmyrtle

Estuary portion of Wax Myrtle trail near beach is closed due to river erosion & snowy Plover habitat protection. Use alternate route on sand road. Trail is signed. Lagoon and Chief Tsiltcoos Trails are open.
