Below you will find some of the more popular trails in the Hebo and Central Coast Ranger Districts, including Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area and Cape Perpetua. To view a full list of trails visit the hiking page. Trails are generally open year round unless there is a washout or the trail is blocked by fallen trees. We typically update this report bi-weekly.  The status listed below is the last known condition. Expect storm debris on trails during winter months.

Woods Creek Trailhead open for Northridge trail. Bikes are currently Not allowed on North Ridge, East Ridge and Tie Trails between October 16, 2018 through May 14, 2019  . 

Be prepared for winter conditions. Roat to the peak is not maintained for snow & ice during the winter months.

Drift Creek Wilderness Area:

All trails open. Trails have been logged and brushed up to the last half mile to Drift Ck. Logging operations are active on access roads leading to Horse Creek North Trailhead. Use caution & expect heavy truck traffic. PACK Your Trash OUT! No Bikes, ATV's or stock allowed on Wilderness trails. Expect storm debris on trails during winter months.

A portion of Cape Cove Trail adjacent to Hwy. 101 has been re-opened between Captain Cook Loop and Restless Waters trails. 

Seasonal Trail closure is in effect on a portion of Giant Spruce Trail. Detour through campground to Giant Spruce Tree. Route is signed.

All other trails are open for use. Expect storm debris on trails during winter months.

Report any trail issues to Cape Perpetua Visitor Center.

Kentucky Falls:
Kentucky Falls, North Fork Smith

Kentucky Falls Trailhead is open. Caution: Remote trail with some steep grades. Bring Map, extra water & food when hiking this trail. Moderate to Difficult trail with elevation gain and loss.

North Fork Smith Trail:Two large stringer bridges have been replaced on the lower 3.5 miles of NF Smith River Trail. Trail has been cleared from Southern TH to about the 5 mile mark.

Expect storm debris on trails during winter months.
