Six Rivers challenges driver skills

EUREKA, Calif. – Six Rivers National Forest fire management employees will test their emergency driving skills in every vehicle they want to be qualified to drive—from pickup trucks and crew buggies, to utility vehicles and various sizes of fire engines. These “behind-the-wheel” scenarios are a follow up to classroom discussions.

Why:  Ensure US Forest Service personnel driving in emergencies meet national standards to ensure their safety and the safety of the public.

Obstacle courses will be set up for various scenarios simulating driving in urban, highway and forest settings. Role-playing, traffic lights, construction-site simulation, and red lights and sirens will all be part of the challenge.
