Seeking members for Resource Advisory Committee

Under the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act (SRS), the Stanislaus National Forest is seeking people with energy and an interest in the long-term benefit of the Stanislaus National Forest to serve as members of the Tuolumne and Mariposa Counties Resource Advisory Committee (RAC).

This committee is chartered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture consistent with the Federal Advisory Committee Act and is comprised of 15 members representing a wide array of interests.

Under Title II of the SRS certain counties may designate a portion of the funds they receive to projects reviewed by a RAC and implemented on federal land. Tuolumne County and Mariposa County are contributing funds to projects on the Stanislaus National Forest.

A Secure Rural Schools Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) provides advice and recommendations to the Secretary of Agriculture through the Forest Service on the development and implementation of special projects on federal lands as authorized under the SRS Act. Examples of the types of projects that can be implemented under Title II include improving the maintenance of existing infrastructure, implementing stewardship objectives that enhance forest ecosystems, and restoring and improving land health and water quality.

Applicants will be evaluated based on their experience in the interest they represent, their demonstrated commitment to collaborative decision-making, and their contribution to the balance and diversity of the RAC.

Tuolumne and Mariposa County residents can apply to be a member of the committee by filling out a membership interest form.
