Forest begins Eye Creek bridge replacement

Contact(s): Carol Underhill

On September 28, 2020, the Shasta Lake Ranger District of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest will start work on the Eye Creek Bridge Replacement Project.  The project is scheduled to take 60 days with the bridge closed during construction.

The Eye Creek Bridge is located 24 miles east of Interstate Highway 5 on Fenders Ferry Road (Forest Road 34N17) between the freeway and McCloud Bridge Campground and Day Use Area. The bridge was damaged in 2018 during the Delta Fire. Although it remained open, the deck planks and guardrails damaged during the fire reduced the weight capacity of the bridge.  Replacement of the damaged parts will make the bridge stronger and improve safety for travelers.

During construction, the road will not be available for through traffic.  Travelers should choose an alternate route. For road and construction project updates, please call the Shasta Lake Ranger Station at (530) 275-1587.
