There are many dispersed camping opportunities but if you prefer a more developed setting, these primitive campgrounds are available.

For the Hayfork area:

  • Basin Gulch Campground
Located in a thickly wooded area within walking distance of Middle Fork Cottonwood Creek, this shady campground is perfect for tents and small trailers 20ft or shorter. It is a great starting point for your OHV adventures into the National Forest!
  • Beegum Gorge Campground
This tiny, tents only campground is located near Beegum Creek. Partially shaded, this is a great home base for your adventures! Be aware - there are vault toilets available, but no water.

For the Shasta Lake area:

  • Chirpchatter Campground
Located east of Shasta Lake, these remote campsites offer the perfect spot to relax. Forested and shady, this is a perfect home base for your OHV adventures! Be aware, the maximum trailer size is 24ft and Fenders Ferry is a rough, unimproved dirt road.
  • Deadlun Campground
Located on the bank of Iron Canyon Reservoir north of Big Bend, this campground is a wonderful hideaway. From here, Forest routes and OHV trails can be taken toward Lake McCloud or down towards Shasta Lake. This is a wonderful campground to base your OHV adventures from!
