Spring Driving

The transition from winter to spring can last from March into the first part of May in the northwoods and conditions may vary greatly across the Forest. From one day to the next, and sometimes even within the same day, drivers may find a mix of snowy, icy, or muddy roads. Melting snow and spring rains can result in water on the road.  Don't take chances when you aren't sure of the depth of water or firmness of the road bed.
