Truckee Dist. Accepting Summer 2019 Outfitting & Guiding Applications

Truckee, Calif. The Truckee Ranger District of the Tahoe National Forest will once again be accepting temporary Outfitter & Guide and Recreation Event Special Use Permit (SUP) applications for the 2019 summer season.

The goals of this program include:

1.)  Providing for high quality Outfitting & Guiding services that address concerns of public health & safety and foster successful small business consistent with applicable land management plans.

2.)  Facilitating greater participation in the Outfitting & Guiding program by organizations and businesses that work with youth and educational groups.

3.)  Providing opportunities for current authorized Outfitter & Guides to offer new activities and areas on the Truckee Ranger District not covered under their current permit.

4.) Providing opportunities for high quality recreation events and outfitting & guiding activities that are in the public’s interest.

These permits are limited in number, temporary in nature and to be used for non-complex, short term uses. The new permits are only valid for a maximum 180-day operating period and are non-renewable. Authorized activities will be limited to a maximum of 200 service days per use area and in some cases authorized permits may be allocated less than the maximum number of days available.

This temporary permit system includes a limited open application period ( March 4 - 15, 2019 ). These permits are for summer activities and will be valid from approximately June 2019 – November 2019. All applicants must meet applicable pre-requisites and qualification standards by the close of the open application period in order to be considered for these opportunities.
