Recreation Upgrades at Grouse Ridge

Grouse Ridge Trailhead Sign

The Tahoe National Forest’s Grouse Ridge area is one of the most panoramic viewing areas of the Sierras and a central point for many trails in the Grouse Ridge Non-Motorized Area. In summer 2014, a new trailhead sign was revised and installed.

In addition, recreation trails data was gathered, using global positioning system (GPS) technology, by Forest Service employees and local mountain bike groups. Production of the new trailhead map was done by California Trails and Greenways Foundation. The Foundation awards five $1,000 mini grants for local trail projects. It was a collaborative effort, with Gold Country Triathlete Club as the grant applicant, Youth Bicyclists of Nevada County Foundation as the grant writer, and Bear Yuba Land Trust as fiduciary agent.
