The Sitka Ranger District and Sitka Supervisors Office teamed up to beautify public lands in honor of Earth Day. In spite of wind, rain, and a brief hail shower, employees cleaned-up along the Halibut Point Road and the Sandy Beach day-use area, and completed some landscaping around the Ranger District office building.

The mulch came from hazard tree removal training at Starrigavan Campground. The limbs chipped by Tongass sawyers became mulch. The wood from the felled trees was split for campground and community use.

Marty Becker, Laurent Deviche, Eric Dow, Gregg Dunn, Perry Edwards, Barth Hamberg, Susan Jones, Annemarie LaPalme, Chris Leeseberg, Jennifer Mac Donald, Mike Mullin, Rebecca Peterman, Aaron Prussian, Michelle Putz, Heather Temple, and Riley Whitson participated in the Earth Day landscaping and clean up.
