Tongass National Forest - Land and Resource Management Plan

The Land and Resource Management Plan ("Forest Plan") guides all natural resource management activities and establishes management direction for the Tongass National Forest. It describes resource management practices, levels of resource production and management, and the availability and suitability of lands for different kinds of resource management.

The Tongass National Forest (Tongass) amended the 2008 Tongass Land and Resource Management Plan through a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process.  The process included public involvement, analysis in an environmental impact statement (EIS) and selection of the alternative to implement in the Record of Decision (ROD) signed on December 9, 2016.

The Final Environmental Impact Statement was released in June 2016.  After the objection process, the Final EIS was updated to respond to direction from the Regional Forester.  These updates were released in an errata document with the ROD in December 2016. Errata are entered by chapter and page number from the FEIS. FEIS map errata are also included.

These documents are supported by maps.  Some maps were updated based on direction from the Regional Forester. The updated maps were released with the ROD in December 2016.
