Sitka trail closed next week

SITKA, Alaska, August 12, 2022— The Indian River Trail on the Sitka Ranger District will be closed for maintenance at milepost 1.8 from noon on August 15 until 5 p.m. on August 18, 2022.
Sitka Ranger District maintenance personnel will be replacing a handrail on a log stringer bridge. Dates of the closure may change depending on conditions.
The new handrail will be temporary as the entire bridge is expected to be reconstructed in 2023 with funds from the Great American Outdoor Act.
