2018 Society of American Foresters Convention

The Forest Service is hiring student interns and recent graduates through the Pathways Program. For detailed information about the Pathways hiring event, visit the Forest Service SAF webpage for eligibility requirements, position locations and additional information. 

Jobs are available across the country. Among them is a Forestry Technician (Recreation)  position for recent graduates at the Mesa Ranger District on the Tonto.

All applications must be submitted on USAJOBS.gov no later than October 12, 2018.  Note that USAJOBS will be unavailable from October 5-8 due to planned system maintenance. Applicants will not be able to submit applications during the outage.

Minimum Federal Qualification Requirements

  • Must be 18-37 years of age (Exceptions will be considered)
  • Must be in good mental and physical condition.
  • Must be able to pass basic wildland firefighter training (provided)
  • Must be able to pass the Forest Service Work Capacity Test at the "Arduous" level.  This involves a 3-mile walk that must be completed in less than 45 minutes while wearing a 45-pound vest (provided)
