Winter Storms Brings Additional Road and Office Closures - Additional Closures possible

PHOENIX, February 22, 2019 — For Immediate Release – The Tonto National Forest has received varying amounts of rain and snow, causing Forest officials to temporarily close additional roads, recreation areas, and offices.  Expect the closures to remain in effect until weather conditions improve.  Additional closures are possible.  Forest roads are temporarily closed to the public for public and employee safety, as well as reducing resource damage.

New temporary closures on Friday, February 22 include:

Cave Creek

  • Bartlett Lake Road, closed at the Cave Creek Road.
  • Seven Springs Road (FR 24)
  • Horseshoe Road (FR 205)

Globe

  • Pinal Mountains (FR 651)
  • Pioneer Pass Road (FR112)

Tonto Basin

  • The Ranger District office and visitor center is closed due to a power outage.  The office and visitor center will reopen once power has been restored.
