Current Forest Orders
Forest Orders are legal prohibitions that are issued by a National Forest Officer. They are issued when the Forest Officer considers them necessary for the protection or administration of the National Forest or for promotion of public health, safety or welfare. Each order includes a specific type of occupancy or use, period of time, and location. For more information on Forest Orders please consult the 36 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Section 251. The terms of these orders vary from longer terms to seasonal or emergency Forest Orders.
Longer term orders are more permanent in nature and usually reflect an environmental document decision. Shorter term orders are generally seasonal and are based on emergency environmental conditions (road closures for floods, area and trail closures for wildfires), and/or protection of forest visitors or forest resources (ie: Campground closures, area closures for bald eagle nesting).
Only active forest orders will be posted on this web site. Terminated orders will be removed following termination date. Signed copies are available at the front desk at the forest headquarters’ office in Pendleton, OR.
All documents are in Adobe PDF format.
