Effective Friday, September 14, at 12:01 a.m., all areas within the boundaries of the Umpqua National Forest will enter an Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) II.

Precaution level II prohibits blasting, welding, cable yarding or the use of power saws except at loading sites, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. The restrictions apply to all contractors and permit holders working on the Umpqua National Forest, including those with permits to cut personal-use firewood.

While recent cooling and wet weather have offered relief from the heat, fire danger still remains a possibility.
