SALT LAKE RANGER DISTRICT SEEKING
COMMENTS ON WASATCH POWDERBIRD GUIDES PERMIT RENEWAL

Salt Lake City, Utah, June 9, 2017 - The Salt Lake Ranger District, of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, has initiated a 30-day public comment period for a project to renew an outfitting and guiding permit for Wasatch Powderbird Guides.  The re-issued permit does not represent any change to the scope or intensity of authorized activities.
Wasatch Powderbird Guides has an existing permit that expires in 2019 and has requested a new 10-year permit.  The existing permit authorizes an annual operating season from December 15- April 15 and 1600 skier-days per season.  Wasatch Powderbird Guides has provided heli-skiing opportunities on the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, under special-use permits continuously since 1973.
The 2003 Revised Forest Plan for the Wasatch-Cache National Forest identifies guided heli-skiing as a recreational activity that the Forest Service desires to continue to be offered.
Comments are due by July 10, 2017 and can be submitted to the Salt Lake Ranger District, comments-intermtn-wasatch-cache-saltlake@fs.fed.us
