Logan District Ranger, Jennefer Parker, announced today that the following roads that were scheduled to open on April 15, 2019 will remain closed to motorized vehicles until at least May 1st.  Keeping the roads closed is necessary due to snow and wet and muddy conditions.

Lower Green Canyon road (Forest Service road #050), Card Canyon road (Forest Service road #024), Smithfield Canyon road (Forest Service road #049), Left Hand Fork road (Forest Service road #245), and High Creek road (Forest Service road #048).

Logan District Ranger, Jennefer Parker said “driving on wet or muddy roads causes ruts to form in the road surface, causes erosion, reduces water quality, and makes roads hazardous for the next user,”  “We'd really like the public's help in preventing road damage problems, so the best advice to forest visitors is to just wait until the roads have a chance to dry out,” said Parker.
Access at the side of the gates is there only to allow snow machines to use the road/trail during the winter season.  Any motorized vehicle (ATV, motorcycle, truck) behind a locked gate is in violation of a road closure. Violations can punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual, or $10,000 for an organization and/or imprisonment for not more than 6 months.

Forest visitors should contact the Logan Ranger District office, (435-755-3620) which is located at the mouth of Logan Canyon to obtain the most current road information.
