Recreation Report - Blue Mtns/Grande Ronde

This developed recreation site report provides the current known conditions for the main recreation sites in the Blue Mountains North/Grande Ronde River Basin recreation area. In general, this recreation area includes sites found south and west of La Grande, Oregon, starting north of the Anthony Lake recreation area along Forest Road 73 (Elkhorn Drive Scenic Byway) through the Grande Ronde River up to Mt. Emily.

A recreation site that is shown as 'MAINTAINED' has been inspected the district recreation manager, the known hazards (e.g. uprooted trees, downed branches, rockslides, damaged structures) have been removed, and annual maintenance tasks have been completed.

  • Hazards may occur at any time so always be prepared for unplanned events. Typical hazards include downed trees, flooded sites, rocks and snow on the road, etc.
  • Please be advised that late spring and early fall snow levels are ever changing and that roads and trails may be covered with snow. Contact your local Ranger District for the most current information on roads and trails.
