Hells Canyon and the Snake River are rich in prehistoric and historic culture. Visitors today can explore and learn more about the Native American and pioneers who have occupied the canyon for thousands of years.

 

 

Snake River Historical Ranches, Cabins and Structures

Miners, cattle and sheep ranchers and farmers were active along the river from the early 1800s to the late 1900's. The ranch homes and buildings seen today are evidence of their hard work and presistence in providing for their families while living on the river.
