What is the YCC
The Youth Conservation Corp (YCC) is a summer employment program for youth ages 15-18 who will work, learn, and earn together in the great outdoors. The purpose of the YCC program is to accomplish needed conservation work on the White Mountain National Forest, while educating local youth about natural resources management. The program is sponsored by the Pemigewasset Ranger District of the White Mountain National Forest, headquartered in Campton, NH.
2021 Enrollment Information
This 8 week program will start June 21st and end August 13th. Enrollees are expected to be committed to the program during this time, however, one week of unpaid vacation will be granted to each enrollee to accommodate family vacations, camps or other summer obligations. YCC is not a residential program and no housing is available. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from work. Work hours will vary depending on the project, however, typical work hours are from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM Mon-Fri.

Requirements
Enrollees will work a 35 hour week earning minimum wage ($7.25/hr), and will involve the following activities: trail maintenance, clean-up and maintenance of recreation sites, wildlife habitat improvement work, and other projects supporting Timber and Fire management. The YCC crew will also spend one day each week learning about natural resource conservation and management during dedicated education days. Students will be working in inclement weather conditions and will be engaged in strenuous physical work. Enrollees will encounter biting insects, heat, cold, humidity and must come with adequate equipment to work a full day in the outdoors.
