Blanco Ranger District Current Conditions

General Updates and Conditions

Road Conditions

Winter is here, so please remember that the Forest converts the road system from wheeled use to winter over-snow use on November 23rd for most roads. This means that forest roads are closed to wheeled vehicles, including bikes during the winter. Please see our Winter Motor Vehicle Use Maps to see what areas and routes are open to over-snow (non-wheeled) travel and what the dates are.

Winter Recreation & Conditions

Remember, conditions can change rapidly, especially in winter. Be sure to check weather reports and current avalanche conditions. Know Before You Go.

Campgrounds & Day Use Sites

Please see our chart of all campgrounds on the White River National Forest, complete with dates, prices, links to each campground page, and more.

During the winter, hiking trails remain open for snowshoeing and skiing. Biking is not currently allowed on forest roads or trails during the winter (see press release about fat-tire bikes).

For motorized winter over-snow use such as snowmobiling, see the Road Conditions section above with a link to the Winter Motor Vehicle Maps.
