Sapphire Point Overlook online reservation system temporarily closed
Updates coming to Recreation.gov site to improve user experience

DILLON, Colo. (Nov. 22, 2023) – The reservation system for the popular Sapphire Point Overlook above Dillon Reservoir is temporarily closed until early next year.

The Sapphire Point Overlook is the most-reserved recreation site on the Dillon Ranger District, with 625 reservations in the last year alone. This highly visited day-use area offers two-hour bookings for group gatherings of 35 people or less and also remains open to the general public during reservations. It is particularly popular for small weddings, with multiple bookings common on a single day. The reservation system helps provide certainty for planning events.

“With the high number of visitors each year, we want to ensure that the reservation system is as efficient as possible,” said Dillon District Ranger Adam Bianchi. “We understand this may be an inconvenience to those wanting to make a reservation at Sapphire Point, and we appreciate the public’s patience while we make improvements to the reservation site.”

The online reservation page is closed while much-needed site improvements are being made to improve user experience and streamline future bookings. Reservations made prior to the closure will be honored. The Sapphire Point Overlook will continue to be open to the public during this time.

Please visit www.recreation.gov or the White River National Forest www.fs.usda.gov/whiteriver for updates on the reservation system. For more information, contact the Dillon Ranger District at 970-468-5400
