2018 US Capitol Christmas Tree Tour

Capitol Christmas Tree

We are pleased to announce the Willamette National Forest’s Sweet Home Ranger District will be providing the U.S. Capitol Christmas tree and 75 smaller companion trees to adorn the Capitol buildings in Washington, DC for the 2018 holiday season. A gift from the Willamette National Forest and the State of Oregon to the people of the United States, the tree will be displayed on the West Lawn of the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., with a public tree-lighting ceremony in early December 2018.

What's New

The public is invited to celebrate the cutting of the 2018 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree

The 2018 United States Capitol Christmas Tree will be harvested from the Willamette National Forest on November 2, 2018. The Sweet Home Ranger District is hosting two public events so Oregonians can both see and celebrate this important moment in the yearlong U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree campaign. Come join us to celebrate the cutting of the tree! Starting today, 50 lucky people who register here will be able to attend the tree cutting event. The number of public attendees is limited by the size of the area surrounding the tree, plus the need to accommodate tree-lifting cranes and a large truck. Registration will be open until the 50 slots are full. If you are unable to see the tree cut, come celebrate at River Bend County Park in Foster, OR starting at 1:30 PM.

Everyone is invited to celebrate the Capitol Christmas tree cutting at:

River Bend County Park

45931 Santiam Highway,

Foster, OR 97345

1:30-3:30 PM

Public and news media most welcome!
