Jones Fire Closes Roads, Trails and Campgrounds

(Springfield, OR) Due to fire activity from the Jones fire, Forest Service Road 18 (Fall Creek Road) is now closed from the forest boundary on the west to the Middle Fork Ranger District boundary on the east. The following campgrounds are closed; Bedrock, Dolly Varden, Clark Creek Organizational Camp, Big Pool, Broken Bowl, Little Cowhorn Lookout, Puma. The following trails are closed: Fall Creek National Recreation #3455, Johnny Creek Nature #3454, Clark Butte #3456.1, Little Cowhorn #3458, Jones #3472, Tall Trees #4269, Clark Creek Nature Trail #3456, Hehe Mountain #3475, Clark/Fall Tie #3456.2 (see map).
The Jones fire is approximately at 1,700 acres and is located in the Little Fall Creek watershed outside of Lowell. The fire is located near Forest Road 1817 and approximately 9 miles east of Fall Creek reservoir and 1 mile north of Clark Butte. The public is not permitted in this area.
The Willamette National Forest and the Oregon Department of Forestry are working on fire suppression operations. There will be an Interagency Incident Management Team overseeing the fire as beginning Sunday. Access and recreation sites will remain closed until further notice.
