Willamette National Forest to lift public use restrictions

Springfield, OR (Oct. 1, 2018) -- The Willamette National Forest will lift Public Use Restrictions due to cooler temperatures. The lift will become effective on October 2, at 12:01 a.m. Open fires, including charcoal fires, will be allowed.

Officials carefully consider the current fire situation, fuel moisture and predicted weather before making the decision to lift fire restrictions. Fire officials ask those recreating and hunting to use caution with fire. Please make sure your campfire is cold before leaving. Wildfires are still possible even though fall is approaching and temperatures are cooling down.
