Smokey Bear & Woodsy Owl Main Page

The National Symbols Program is a key component of the U.S. Forest Service’s Conservation Education Program. It features America’s Icons for fire prevention, Smokey Bear, and environmental conservation, Woodsy Owl. In addition, we develop and supply educational materials and training to U.S. Forest Service employees - as well as employees of other federal, state, and local agencies nationwide - who in turn provide these materials and educational services to the public.
