Where exactly is the Ocala National Forest?
The Ocala National Forest is bounded by the Ocklawaha and St. Johns Rivers in North Central Florida within Putnam, Lake and Marion Counties. The western boundary of the forest is about 15 miles east of Interstate 75 in Ocala, just east of Silver Springs. The eastern side is bounded by the St. Johns River.
The Ocala National Forest can be easily accessed by road from Interstate 95 in Ormond Beach (just north of Daytona Beach) or Interstate 75 in Ocala via SR 40, the Florida Black Bear Scenic Byway. Our forest is due north of the Orlando metro region along SR 19 north of Mount Dora.
