Stories come to life at Woods Creek Watchable Wildlife Trail

Smokey Bear and kidsOn June 30th, 2018, employees from the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Mountain View Timberland Library, and members of the public gathered at the Woods Creek Watchable Wildlife Trail in the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District to celebrate the unveiling of Timberland Regional Library Story Trail. People of all ages attended the event and were greeted with games, activities, and a visit from Smokey Bear!

The Story Trail is the result of a partnership between the library and the forest and aims to bring literacy to the trails. This interactive adventure features illustrated displays along the route talking about the scenery and wildlife of the area.  The Woods Creek Story Trail features the book The Big Woods Orchestra by Guido Van Genechten.

The Story Trail is a great family opportunity to hike part of all of the 2.5 mile trail and enjoy the sights and sounds of our big woods on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest!
