50 Years of Learning with Woodsy Owl! 2022 Caring for The Land Webinar Series

Since September 15, 1971, Woodsy Owl has reminded Americans to "Give a hoot, don't pollute!" and "Lend a hand, care for the land!" Today, Woodsy Owl’s message is as important as ever, and especially at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, where volunteers, partners and staff are working to restore the land with over 275 species of native Illinois prairie plants. Why is Woodsy Owl important to the mission and goals of Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie and the people who work here? In this short video, USDA FS Hydrologic Technician Rob Lorens explains about water quality surveys, which are the first step in increasing and improving natural habitat for native Illinois prairie species.

Photo Challenge

From a brave mother wolf spider carrying over 100 of her babies on her back to a coyote howling on the Henslow Trail, the photos from the "Woodsy Owl & Friends" 50th Birthday Photo Challenge each tell a story of Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie.

Panel Discussions
