Forest Restoration Videos
In 2021, the Ozark-St. Francis and Ouachita National Forests produced a series of three short videos highlighting the incredible forest and glade restoration work being completed on the National Forests in Arkansas and Oklahoma. Our Forests, along with The Nature Conservancy in Arkansas and other esteemed partners, are leaders in conservation and restoration of natural landscapes. Through the Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program and Joint Chief’s Landscape Restoration Partnership, funding to expand Forest restoration efforts across our Forests has been obtained. These videos were developed to showcase our Forests’ commitment to restoration, benefiting us both now and in generations to come.

Through the Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program and Joint Chief’s Landscape Restoration Partnership, funding to expand Forest restoration efforts across the National Forests in Arkansas and Oklahoma has been obtained. Your public land managers are passionate about restoring native ecosystems, and committed to balancing the immense responsibilities that come with multiple-use management principles. In this video, you’ll witness the dedication our professionals have to ensuring our shortleaf pine bluestem areas on the Ouachita National Forest are restored, along with its unique red-cockaded woodpecker habitat.
Did you know Arkansas has glades? Not many people do! As crazy as it sounds, glades and glade habitat are quite unique to our state, and vary in type between the Ozark-St. Francis and Ouachita National Forests. Work to restore glades back to their native condition did not begin until more recently, but already public land managers are seeing the result of implementing strategic management objectives in these areas.
