 Dear Neighboring Resident,

Red Fire Icon jpgIt's that time of year again!

The Francis Marion National Forest conducts prescribed burns from fall through spring to reduce heavy fuel buildup in the forest and protect neighboring communities from the threat of catastrophic wildfire.

Your health and safety are important to us!

Prescribed burns present potential smoke hazards—particularly to those who may suffer from cardiopulmonary disorders or respiratory conditions such as asthma. Depending on a number of factors, smoke from prescribed burns can also potentially impact traffic–lengthening commute times or delaying school buses.

An informed resident is a prepared resident!
