Camping	Dispersed Camping	Picnic/Day Use
Most campgrounds are first-come, first-served basis, except for six campgrounds.	To “get away from it all” try dispersed camping in an area with no facilities and no fees.	Picnic Sites/ Day Use sites with restrooms are available for no fee for the day.


Hiking/Backpacking	Fishing	Bicycling
Hike and see spectacular vistas, unique geological formations, and sparkling lakes.	The trout fishing season begins in late April and runs through mid-November; a license is required.	There are excellent mountain biking opportunities on trails and roads within the Forest that will lead you on an adventure.


Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV)	Water Activities	Winter Sports
Many excellent off-road opportunities exist on the forest. Some routes are open year-round while other routes are open April 15 to Dec. 15.	White water enthusiasts might consider a trip on the North Fork of the Stanislaus River or a journey down the Tuolumne Wild & Scenic River.	Winter provides a whole new realm of recreation opportunities on the Forest. From Snowshoeing to snowmobiling.


Permits and Passes	Hunting	Horse Riding
National passes cover entrance fees on federal recreation areas and National Parks.	Hunting is a seasonal activity. Be informed before visiting and follow state and federal laws.	See the Sierra the way the settlers saw it, by horseback. Enjoy the quiet and solitude for a half-hour or a week-long packing trip


Interpretive Programs	Wilderness Areas	Visitor Center
The Forest offers various interpretive programs throughout the summer.	The Carson-Iceberg, Emigrant, and Mokelumne Wildernesses offer outstanding recreation opportunities in a natural setting.	Stop by at one of our visitor centers in Pinecrest, Hathaway Pines, Groveland or Sonora.
