The goal is to help blend the house into the surrounding natural environment and not be highly visible from the lake. The recommended colors are browns, tans, greens and gray which dominate forested areas. Darker colors reflect less light so they are less visible; therefore it is recommended that the body of the house be a darker color. Contrast also makes objects more visible, so it is recommended that the trim be no more than two shades lighter or darker than the house.
The following is a list of recommended colors from a variety of manufacturers and vendors. Similar paint colors from other manufacturers or vendors may be utilized upon approval.
The Shasta Lake Ranger District office, located at 14225 Holiday Road in Mt. Gate, has available for viewing a complete collection of paint chips of the colors listed below.
