Tahoe National Forest Participates in AMA Supercross Championships

AMA Supercross III
Recently, the Tahoe National Forest had a booth at the entrance to the PITS for the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Supercross Championships. Many of the riders competing in or watching these events are avid motorcyclists who help fund the Tahoe National Forest (TNF) Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) program through grants, so everyone who walked by stopped for information. Good connections were made with potential volunteer groups, who wanted to come out and help with trail maintenance and construction.  OHV Division and AMA representatives stopped by as well.

Funds from grants programs help support the following: planning, acquisition, development, maintenance, administration, operation, enforcement, restoration, and conservation of trails and trailhead areas. This funding also supports facilities associated with the use of off-highway motor vehicles, and programs involving off-highway motor vehicle safety and education. The TNF shared their booth area with Carnegie and Hollister State Vehicular Recreation Areas, as well as Metcalf Motorcycle Park and Oasis for Kids.  Riders and spectators of all ages were happy to see the TNF giving out information regarding public lands and trails.
